Haru Privacy Policy

Haru has no account and no ads. Your learning progress stays on your device and in your own iCloud, where the developer can't read it. To count users and purchases, the app sends a small heartbeat with the technical details listed below. No tracking, and we never sell data.
What Haru keeps
Your lessons, reviews and review schedule, mistakes, saved items, daily study time and exam results. Your nickname, goal, exam dates and settings stay on this device.
Where it's kept
On your device. With iCloud sync on (it's on by default), your progress is also kept in your own iCloud, in your private CloudKit database for Haru. Only your Apple Account can open it; the developer can't read it.
Apple stores and transfers this data under the Apple Privacy Policy.
Speaking practice
Speaking practice uses the microphone and Apple's speech recognition to turn what you say into text. Where the iPhone supports it, recognition runs on the iPhone itself; otherwise Apple processes the audio. Haru doesn't save your recordings or send them to us.
You can turn it off at any time in Settings › Sound › Speaking practice.
App statistics
While Haru is open, it sends our server (a Cloudflare Worker) a small heartbeat so we can count users and purchases. It contains:
- a random installation ID made by the app
- the date Haru was first opened
- the app and iOS versions
- your App Store country
- Apple's signed App Store records: the app transaction and your Haru in-app purchase transactions, including their IDs, product, dates and price
It never contains your name, email, contacts, learning content or location.
What we don't collect
No account, name, email or phone number. No contacts, location or learning content. No advertising identifier, no ads and no tracking across apps or websites.
Purchases
Apple processes every purchase, and Haru never sees your payment details. Manage or cancel a subscription in iPhone Settings › your name › Subscriptions.
Your choices
Settings › Start over deletes your lessons, reviews and exam history from this device and, with iCloud sync on, from iCloud too. You can turn off Settings › iCloud sync at any time.
To have your app statistics record deleted, email us the Support ID shown in Profile › About Haru.
Children
Haru isn't directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears on this page with a new date.
